Olivia’s [work] tends to have a comedic approach to video, and accomplishes this through a vintage style that creates an old cartoon effect. Her art tends to be a controlled chaos and can be characterized as a lack of narrative but when viewing it may feel otherwise. She is inspired largely by childhood cartoons like The amazing world of gumball and Chowder, that don’t follow a continuous storyline. In her animation her character has a storyboard thrown in their face. It is the start of a chaotic story that feels a lot like life and how it has no drawn out order. This speaks on the unpreparedness of the world with fast paced media and short attention span. This piece slightly reflects the current state of the world.
